Tyrosine is a neurotransmitter that increases levels of dopamine and norepinephrine in our body, according to the Franklin Institute. The result is that we are more alert and more energized.

Dairy products in ice cream are neurotransmitters: chemical sensitive carriers that only require the right environment to trigger their release. Tryptophan is an amino acid in dairy products that leads to a calm mood by increasing serotonin production, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. It is known to help us relax and sleep better.

Have a variety of nutrients
Eating ice cream can also provide other benefits for the body, more than just improving mood. Ice cream can be a source of carbohydrates, protein, and fat which can help the process of energy synthesis.

As quoted from the Newsweek website, a study conducted by Yoshihiko Koga, a professor from Kyorin University, Tokyo, proves that eating cold foods such as ice cream shortly after awakening can provide a stimulus to the brain to become more active, increase alertness, and mental capacity.
